A large proportion of the work of the practice continues to involve sites where issues of development or change affect historically sensitive locations, such as Conservation Areas, Historic Landscapes or Listed Buildings. These require historical research, the careful evaluation of the historic asset and exploration of whether new uses or new development can be beneficial in improving setting or generating funds for repairs.
Our projects in this Conservation Planning sphere have included redundant factories and mills, a former cathedral, historic gardens and the settings of several Grade I and Grade II listed buildings. We have also handled many sites in Conservation Areas in the heart of historic towns and cities.
