Tell us what you do
I’m an architectural assistant working in Daniel Lugsden’s team in Bath. This involves helping where I can with 3D modelling, detailing etc, working across a range of projects. My job is educating and aiding me towards completing my part II qualification.
What sparked your interest in architecture?
I was lucky enough to grow up in Bath, surrounded by gorgeous Georgian architecture so this may have been the first spark! At school I grew a love for art as well as maths and the sciences – this led to an interest in where these two areas cross over, through creative thought and problem solving to create innovative designs that can have a real impact on the way we live.
What is the best advice you were ever given?
A wise fish once said: “Just keep swimming!” (- Dory, Finding Nemo).
This little phrase kept popping up in my head during university when I felt like I was drowning under deadlines!
What do you enjoy most in your work?
The variety of projects and people who I’ve worked with over the time I’ve been here.
I’ve also found it very interesting learning about the many hats an architect must wear (figuratively, that is!) to switch across different skills and mindsets when facing challenges through the phases of a project.
