Nash Partnership’s planning work is Highly Commended

We’re delighted to have been ‘Highly Commended’ at this year’s RTPI SW Awards for Planning Excellence.

Our submission focused on the McArthur’s Yard project, which will see a long-derelict plot on Bristol’s historic harbourside redeveloped to provide 147 residential units, workspace, café and gallery space. Despite various redevelopment attempts by others, the site has been vacant for over 20 years. However, Nash Partnership gained permission for a mix of uses that we are confident will deliver a viable development, which others have struggled to achieve.

The approved scheme will create a development that responds to the site’s harbourside location in this unique corner of Bristol. We delivered integrated planning, urban design and architecture services to our client The Guinness Partnership and the development is now on site.

The project was commended in the RTPI SW’s ‘Excellence during the Planning Decision Process’ category. The RTPI regional awards for Planning Excellence celebrate projects and people who have helped create exceptional places and improved the lives of those who live and work there. They also highlight how planning and planners work to create a safe, healthy and sustainable future.

Commenting on the commendation, Nash Partnership’s Planning Director Mike Fox said: “We’re delighted to have worked on the project with Guinness, and receiving this commendation from the RTPI for our planning work is the icing on the cake. Our approach to the project was focused on involving key stakeholders and the local community, who helped shape and evolve the detailed plans. This has helped us to meet the aspirations of our client, the council and the local community, and we look forward to seeing the end result in the finished scheme.”
