Returning a grade I listed hotel to two single dwellings
Great Pulteney Street is Bath’s finest and longest street which meets the historic city centre at Pulteney Bridge. All Great Pulteney Street’s buildings are of Grade I listed status.
Nos 10a and 11 had operated as a small hotel for decades. We secured planning permission and listed building consent to return them to two single dwellings, restoring all main rooms to their original proportions but incorporating bathrooms and facilities needed for modern living.
Adapting houses of six storeys to single family use is challenging and often involves separating out one or two floors for self-contained accommodation alongside the main use, for staff or family members. Both buildings needed to be taken through a comprehensive programme of internal and external repairs with new fenestration, ornamental plasterwork, joinery and stonework. On completion, each was given a newly designed garden.
