Mel Clinton

Mel is a planner and regeneration practitioner with extensive public, private and third sector experience. His career has taken him through roles in planning policy, development management, regeneration and project delivery in North Wales, West and South London, Midsomer Norton/Radstock, Bath and Bristol.

Exposure to a variety of planning roles early in his career established Mel’s belief that planning must be a tool for delivery, with an understanding of the nuts and bolts of the planning process set within a broader appreciation of the factors that shape the built environment and the wellbeing of communities.

Where planning policy appears to present a barrier, his instinct is to look at the objectives that lie behind the policy. This provides a basis for creative solutions that deliver positive development outcomes.

Before joining Nash Partnership, his work for a number of local authorities, a regeneration partnership and the setting up of a community interest company has given him an understanding of public sector agendas, the role of stakeholders and the requirements for successful delivery.

Outside the office, Mel is involved in a voluntary capacity in community-led projects and planning initiatives.
