Residents of Frome have their say on development of Saxonvale site

Thank you to everybody who attended the consultation event held by Acorn Property Group and Nash Partnership on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th January in relation to proposed development of the Saxonvale site in Frome.

The Saxonvale site is owned by Mendip District Council who are working with Acorn Property Group to draw up and implement proposals for a high quality mixed-use development of the land. Nash Partnership is a planning, urban design and regeneration practice working with Acorn to draw up the design proposals and submit a planning application. The wider team also involves a range of specialists providing advice on issues such as transport, flood risk, contamination, air quality, heritage, ecology and trees.

Attended by nearly 600 people, the event saw a high level of interest in the future of this important site for the town and its community. Residents shared with us their understanding of what makes this lively and independent-minded community special as well as its challenges and opportunities. The discussions at the event highlighted people’s pride in Frome and their passion for its future.

For those unable to attend the event, the exhibition material and comment form are available at www.saxonvaleredevelopment.org and comments can be submitted until 28 January to:

  • Nash Partnership, 23a Sydney Buildings, Bathwick, Bath BA2 6BZ

Acorn and Nash Partnership will review all the comments to help inform the design process as we develop draft proposals for the future of the site. These draft development proposals will then provide the basis for a second consultation event before finalising the design for submission of a planning application. We are absorbing everything residents have told us and look forward to the follow-up event in several weeks’ time.
