Improving wellbeing. Increasing confidence. Learning new skills and talents. Just three reasons (of many) why volunteering can be good for an individual.
With this in mind, and to show commitment to our chosen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we recently launched a new ‘Employer Supported Volunteering’ initiative – and we’re excited to share the news here.
The initiative entitles every colleague to an extra day of paid leave per year (in addition to their usual entitlement) to help a community, charitable or not-for-profit organisation during work time. This can be used by colleagues to help them undertake any current volunteering commitments they may have or to engage in new volunteering opportunities.
We’re offering this initiative because of the many benefits it will bring for our team members and our local communities whilst also supporting our chosen SDGs. For communities, it will help them access new talent and energy. For our colleagues, it will bring a great sense of personal achievement whilst also enhancing personal wellbeing. And as a business, the scheme will help us maintain a connection with our local communities. So, win-win-win!
Commenting on the initiative, Partner Daniel Lugsden said: “The benefits of volunteering – to all parties involved – are extensive and well documented. As part of our ongoing commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, we were keen to help enable colleagues to support local causes they feel passionate about. We’re pleased to be able to offer this to all colleagues as an additional benefit and look forward to hearing about the positive differences they make.”
