The finalists for this year’s SW Residential Property Awards have been announced and we’re proud to be represented in five shortlistings!
McArthur’s Yard in Bristol is a finalist in the ‘Residential Development (+100 units)’, ‘Residential Regeneration’ and ‘Apartment Development of the Year’ categories. Nash Partnership provided planning and planning-stage design services for this landmark project. Also shortlisted in the ‘Residential Regeneration’ category is the Littlecombe development in Dursley – a project where our placemaking team worked on the first phase. In addition, our planning consultants are shortlisted in the ‘Consultancy/Advisory’ category for their work on projects including Water Lane, the former Keynsham Fire Station and Mulberry House.
The McArthur’s Yard development in central Bristol delivers 142 high-quality apartments arranged over three elegantly designed buildings, with commercial space on the ground floor. With construction now complete, the scheme is breathing new life into a derelict brownfield harbourside site which had been neglected for more than 20 years. Together with client Guinness Partnership, contactor Hill Group and Bristol City Council, we’re pleased to see this project represented in three categories.
After a remarkable year, our planning team members are excited to be finalists in the ‘Consultancy/Advisory’ category. Working for organisations of all types and sizes, they steer a range of applications through the planning process – from small and rural homes to large, mixed-use urban developments. Last year, this included securing unanimous approval at planning committee for the ‘flagship’ waterside scheme in Exeter (up to: 980 homes, 40,000 sqm of commercial space and 320 student accommodation units, plus more than 100 units for older persons’ housing). Described as “probably one of the most important [applications] this committee has considered in many years”, the proposals have the potential to transform Water Lane while also bringing wider strategic benefits to Exeter as a whole.
Other work last year by our planning consultants included providing services to Gloucester City Homes for the regeneration of the Podsmead estate. This project aims to deliver 172 new homes for social rent as well as the renewal of local retail/amenities and a major overhaul of the public open space. Also, in November, our team secured consent for 21 new apartments (over 55s) and commercial space at the former Keynsham Fire Station (subject to the completion of a legal agreement).
In addition, the St Modwen development in Littlecombe is a finalist in the ‘Residential Regeneration’ category. Our placemaking team worked on the first phase, which was distinctive because it opened up a culverted stream, creating a haven for ecology and attractive pedestrian route through the site. This set a benchmark for the wider development.
