Thank you to all the people of Calne who came along to our consultation event on the future development of the former Co-op site on Mill Street on Saturday 26th March.
To aid discussions and encourage suggestions at the event, the consultation material put forward a proposed concept which seeks to introduce high quality town centre living, space for commercial and/or community use, new pedestrian routes, public open space, landscaping and enhanced space for nature. This takes into consideration the site’s opportunities and constraints as well as the town’s Community Neighbourhood Plan and the related Calne Masterplan.
Whilst the consultation is now closed, you can view the consultation material via this link.
We are now reviewing the comments made in preparation for producing a detailed design and submitting a planning application. The application will be the subject of further public consultation by Wiltshire Council prior to making a decision.
The site presents a big opportunity to enhance the design quality of this part of the centre and to bring life to a disused site, taking account of the way town centres are needing to adapt.
The site plan presented in the consultation material is a work in progress.
