We were over the moon to hear the first phase of a sensitive, consultation-led regeneration project with our client Somerset Council was named ‘Residential Project of the Year (36+ homes)’ at the Michelmores Property Awards.
Phase A of the North Taunton Woolaway Project looks to resolve the structural issues of 212 defective Woolaway homes in Taunton. The first phase is now complete, resulting in a range of new low-carbon houses and flats designed to suit the local community’s needs while also generating significant social value investment and positive tenant feedback.
Judges said the “exceptionally high-quality council-led development sets a standard for other local authorities and the private sector”, with the “thoughtful homes” offering bespoke design features for different needs.
The project’s recent award win comes hot on the heels of its success at the SW Residential Property Awards, where it was chosen from a shortlist of eight finalists to win the ‘Affordable Housing’ category.
Commenting on the recent win, Amanda Taylor (Director of Placemaking, Nash Partnership) said: “Working with local residents from the outset was an important foundation for the success of this sensitive project. By taking a truly inclusive and transparent approach to engagement, we were able to gain support on design and delivery solutions, and dialogue has continued through the construction phase, too. We’re thrilled the North Taunton Woolaway Project has been recognised at not one but two regional awards and look forward to continuing this success as subsequent phases are completed.”
